The Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line has announced an increase in the number of daily trips from 54 to 72, with the new schedule set to begin on Monday.

This was disclosed by Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, the Managing Director of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), in a statement released to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Akinajo mentioned that the current Sunday operations schedule would remain unchanged. With the new schedule, passengers traveling between Marina and Mile 2 will experience a reduced travel time of approximately 18 minutes, down from the previous 25 minutes.

This adjustment means there will now be a train every 18 minutes in both directions, offering commuters more flexibility in planning their trips.

Additionally, Akinajo announced a 25% discount on fares for commuters traveling during off-peak hours, which are set between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily.

This initiative aims to reduce journey times, encourage more riders to use the train system during off-peak periods, and lower transportation costs for commuters.

The updated train timetables are available on the LAMATA website, at train stations, and through the agency’s social media platforms. Since its commencement of passenger operations on September 4, 2023, the Blue Line has transported nearly two million passengers.
