Mr Ibrahim Layode, Lagos State Commissioner of Home Affairs, has emphasised the importance of education for children, urging parents to ensure their children receive proper education for their future leadership roles.
Speaking at the 21st Edition of the Ayeye Ileya Ceremony in Badagry to mark the Eid-el Kabir festival, Layode, represented by Mr. Sesi Pot-Balogun of the Education Committee of Ayeye-Ileya, advised parents to collaborate with the State Ministry of Education in implementing educational policies.
During the ceremony, Layode presented gifts to the children, including educational materials like school bags, notebooks, pens, and markers, to support education in Badagry. He stressed the need to provide children with the best care, education, and opportunities to reach their full potential, emphasizing that children are the foundation of the future.
Layode also commended the people of Badagry for their unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
In his remarks, the Akran of Badagry Kingdom, Aholu Menu Toyi 1, represented by Chief Tunde Giro, the Depegan of Badagry, urged the Badagry Muslim Community to use the Sallah occasion to pray for peace and development in Badagry, Lagos State, and Nigeria as a whole.
He emphasized that peace, growth, and development thrive when there is security of lives and properties.
Mr. Solomon Bonu, a lawmaker representing Badagry Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, encouraged Muslims to pray for national peace and stability during the Eid-el Kabir period, emphasizing the importance of unity, peace, and love for one another as responsible citizens.
He also announced the distribution of free tickets for Hajj to Mecca and Medina to 31 compounds, with three compounds winning a free trip to perform Hajj in 2025.
Chief Imam of Badagry Division, Alhaji Uwais Akewusola, urged residents to pray for peace, progress, and prosperity during the festive period, appealing for continued peaceful coexistence based on Islamic principles.
He wished everyone a joyous and peaceful celebration.
The celebration was characterized by jubilation, dancing, and a strong sense of community as people from diverse backgrounds came together to celebrate this special occasion.
