A devastating fire broke out at the LG office in Abule Osun, Trade Fair, Lagos, early Sunday morning, resulting in the loss of goods and electronics worth millions of naira.
According to a statement from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the fire engulfed the entire warehouse, destroying equipment, small forklifts, household goods, and electronics.
Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, confirmed that the agency received distress calls at approximately 00:15 hours and quickly activated the Lagos State Emergency Response Plan.
Upon arrival at the scene around 00:40 hours, responders found the fire raging throughout the LG office.
While the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, LASEMA, in coordination with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, has been working to prevent the fire from spreading further.
Additional fire appliance trucks have been deployed to assist in the operation. Fortunately, there have been no reported fatalities or injuries, but the fire has escalated, affecting the entire premises.
All LG staff and responders have been relocated outside the premises for safety reasons. The Nigerian Army and the Police are also present at the scene to assist with the ongoing operation.
