Lagos state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the state government is fully complying with Local Council autonomy, discussing this during the Justice Reform Summit in Lagos, speaking on the erroneous inclusion of Lagos in the Federal Government’s lawsuit against Governors over local government misconduct.
During the meeting, He made it clear that the Attorney General ought to have targeted non-compliant states rather than launching a broad legal action. Lagos complies with local council authority to the fullest, thus this case is an unusual one.

The constitution is broken when local council autonomy is compromised. Equity and justice require a judicial interpretation that is unambiguous. Protecting interests and improving the effectiveness of government agencies require a strong legal system.
