The Lagos State Government has taken strong action by closing down multiple businesses in the Ikorodu area. This decision is part of their effort to address issues like noise, air pollution, and other environmental concerns in the state.

On Friday, Tokunbo Wahab from the Environment and Water Resources Department shared this news on X.com. He mentioned that this action follows a recent thorough enforcement operation in important parts of Lagos, such as Agric, Ibeshe, and Ikorodu.

Despite receiving prior warnings, many businesses—such as hotels, bars, gas filling stations, poultry farms, and lounges—continued to ignore the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency’s (LASEPA) rules.

As a result, these businesses have been temporarily closed to ensure they follow environmental regulations. The affected businesses include Victory Hotel, Wendy Bar, Moore Gas Plant, Provider Farm and Poultry, Cloud 24, Little Palace Hotel, City Groove Lounge and Bar, Destiny Castle, and B.S. Gold Warehouse.

Wahab emphasized the importance of businesses adhering to environmental standards. He reaffirmed LASEPA’s commitment to creating a sustainable and pleasant environment for Lagos residents.

“Despite issuing multiple warnings, LASEPA is dedicated to strictly enforcing environmental laws,” he said. The goal is to maintain a clean and sustainable environment that matches Lagos State’s reputation as the nation’s Center of Excellence.
