Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has expressed his commitment to aid the newly elected governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, by sharing effective development strategies that have benefitted Lagos. This assurance was made during a courtesy visit from Okpebholo and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, at the Lagos House, Marina, on Saturday.

Sanwo-Olu stated, “I assure you that Lagos has a history of supporting leaders in their developmental pursuits. There is no harm in emulating successful strategies; the key is to execute them effectively.” He further emphasized, “We are prepared to connect you with all our agencies that can address the specific needs of Edo State.”

The governor of Lagos highlighted that his administration would provide the governor-elect with insights and initiatives that have propelled Lagos forward in its development journey. “It’s encouraging to see that you have chosen Lagos as a model for your governance. We appreciate the acknowledgment of the modest assistance we have extended,” he remarked.

Sanwo-Olu also urged other candidates from the recent election to collaborate with Okpebholo to foster the development of Edo State, asserting that unity among political figures is crucial for progress. “Our recent observations affirm that there is significant potential for improvement within the state, and I trust you possess the vision to effectuate transformative change,” he added.

In response, Okpebholo expressed gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu for his guidance and support throughout the electoral process. He called upon his fellow candidates to join forces in advancing the interests of Edo State. “By the grace of God and with the backing of the esteemed citizens of Edo, we aim to enhance the quality of life for our people,” he declared.

Mr. Okpebholo, representing the All Progressive Congress, emerged victorious in the governorship election held on September 21, defeating Asue Ighodalo, the candidate from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.
