The Lagos State Government has released a follow-up advisory regarding the 90-day rehabilitation project on the expansion joint of the Odo Iya Alaro bridge (Ikorodu Road), set to commence on Monday, 22nd July 2024. This advisory aims to guide the motoring public on alternative routes to minimize disruptions during the rehabilitation period.
For those traveling from the Mainland to the Island, the following alternative routes have been recommended:
1. Route 1:
  – Take the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway through Alapere, Ogudu, Ifako, then proceed onto the Third Mainland Bridge towards the Island.
  – Alternatively, continue from Ogudu to Ifako, then take the Owonroshoki Expressway to Anthony Oke, and follow Ikorodu Road to the Island.
2. Route 2:
  – From the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, use the Ojota Service Lane to Kudirat Abiola Way. Continue onto the Opebi Link Bridge, pass Sheraton, then travel via Mobolaji Bank Anthony to Maryland, and finally onto Ikorodu Road towards the Island.
3. Route 3:
  – Starting from Ikorodu, take the Ketu Ojota Interchange to Ogudu, Ifako, and then the Third Mainland Bridge to reach the Island.
  – Alternatively, from the Ketu Ojota Interchange, go through Ogudu and Ifako, then take the Owonroshoki Expressway to Anthony Oke, and proceed via Ikorodu Road to the Island.
For those traveling from the Island to the Mainland, the following alternative routes are suggested:
1. Route 1:
  – Start from the Island, take the Third Mainland Bridge to Ogudu, Alapere, and then merge onto the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
  – Alternatively, from Ogudu, continue to Alapere, then proceed to Ketu and onward to Ikorodu.
2. Route 2:
  – From the Island, take the Eko Bridge to Funsho Williams Avenue, proceed to Obanikoro (Ikorodu Road), and then divert to Bertola on the service lane, passing Anthony Oke, Gbagada, Ifako, and Ogudu before merging onto the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
  – Alternatively, from Obanikoro (Ikorodu Road), divert to Bertola on the service lane, passing Anthony Oke, Gbagada, Ifako, and Ogudu, then continue to Ketu and onward to Ikorodu.
The public should be aware that there will be a contraflow of traffic on the Odo Iya Alaro bridge during the rehabilitation period. To ensure smooth traffic management, LASTMA officials and traffic equipment will be strategically deployed at the construction zones and along the alternative routes.
