On Saturday, the Initiative for Good Leadership and Accountability (PRIFGLA) called on the youth of Nigeria and the organizers of a planned nationwide protest to reconsider their actions and allow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the necessary time to address the pressing issues currently affecting the country.
In a statement released from Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, Pastor Reuben Wilson, the founder of PRIFGLA, acknowledged the constitutional right of citizens to engage in peaceful demonstrations.
However, he emphasized the importance of rallying in support of the government and contributing constructive ideas for navigating the nation’s challenges.
Pastor Reuben asserted that President Tinubu has introduced transformative policies aimed at improving the lives of citizens, which may not be immediately apparent but are expected to yield results in the near future.
He remarked, “We must exercise patience with President Tinubu as he works to establish a positive economic framework that will significantly improve the country’s socio-economic landscape. In his first year in office, he has made considerable progress in fulfilling many of his campaign promises.”
He pointed out that Tinubu’s campaign was built on an eight-point agenda addressing key issues such as security, enhancing agricultural productivity for food security, implementing economic reforms, unlocking the energy sector, and diversifying the economy—all of which are currently being prioritized.
“Thus, these initiatives require time to develop and produce beneficial outcomes. Protests at this juncture would serve as a distraction, so it is vital for Nigerians to be patient with the Renewed Hope Agenda, as the President is committed to delivering on his promises,” he concluded.
