Manchester United summer recruit Leny Yoro has named the Manchester United legend who convinced him to join the club.

Yoro was on the verge of joining Real Madrid but the Spanish club was way below the club’s valuation of the player.

It is understood that Yoro had just a year left on his contract at Lille when Madrid approached the club for his signature but Lille to cash in on the player.

It was said that Yoro had already set his heart to join Madrid when United’s bid arrived but certain circumstances made him change his mind.

As revealed by the player himself, Yoro said he spoke with Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand on the phone and he told him how big the club is and why he should join Manchester United.

The 22-year old said he did not hesitate to follow the footsteps of former Manchester United and France defender Raphael Varane who he described as his best United player.

Yoro played his first unofficial game for United in the club’s Pre-Season Win against Scottish side Rangers and goalkeeper Andre Onana was full of praise for the young lad as he predicted a bright future for the French man.
