A private lesson teacher was apprehended this morning after being caught stealing from a residence in the Rumuomasi area of Port Harcourt.

The incident has left the community in shock and raised concerns about the trustworthiness of home tutors.

The child’s mother, who had arranged for the lesson teacher to provide educational support during the holiday period, stepped out to purchase cooking supplies from a nearby market.

Believing the teacher would supervise her child and safeguard the house, she left the home with confidence.

However, the lesson teacher took advantage of the mother’s absence and ventured into the master bedroom. While attempting to steal valuables, the door to the room inadvertently locked, trapping the teacher inside.

Upon returning from the market, the mother was surprised to find the door locked and the lesson teacher inside the bedroom with her belongings.

The teacher’s suspicious behavior prompted her to call for help, leading to the teacher’s arrest by local authorities.

The incident has been reported to the police, and an investigation is underway. The community has expressed its outrage and disappointment over the betrayal of trust by the supposed educator.

Residents are urged to be cautious and ensure thorough background checks when employing individuals to work in their homes.
