Linda Ikeji, Nigerian media mogul and blogger, has addressed criticism surrounding her son’s surname.

After facing backlash for giving her six-year-old son, Jayce, her surname, Linda posted a photo of Jayce and his cousin, Ryan, on vacation. Nevertheless, fans expressed concern over her referring to Jayce with her last name in the caption.

In an Instagram story which she shared Linda clarified that Jayce has always had the Ikeji surname since birth.

She explained further that she never intended to change it, emphasizing that the decision to keep or alter his surname will be left to him (Jayce) when he is older. Linda concluded by offering advice to her “Junior colleagues.”

She said “Just to be clear, I’ve never ever had to change my son’s surname. He’s been an Ikeji right from when he was born! Where do I have the time or patience to be changing names? Changing it and keeping his surname (Ikeji) will be up to him when he ages.Food for my Junior colleagues”.
