The Lagos State Police have apprehended Charles Chukwudi, a 48-year-old man, for allegedly forging the official stamps of two different magistrates and impersonating officers of the Lagos State Command of the Nigerian Police Force to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Thursday.
He stated, “Detectives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Lagos State Police Command, have arrested one Charles Chukwudi, aged 48, for forgery and impersonation.”
Hundeyin explained, “The suspect was apprehended following discreet investigations into his issuance of fake court documents to unsuspecting members of the public.”
During the arrest, forged official stamps belonging to Chief Magistrate Admin, C/M Adeola Olatunbosun of Chief Magistrate Court I Yaba, and Magistrate A.B Ajiferuke of Magistrate Court Epe were discovered in his possession.

“In addition,” Hundeyin continued, “he was found with a fake police identity card and a photoshopped passport photograph of himself in police uniform.”
Investigations into his fraudulent activities commenced after court officials discovered the forgeries and alerted the police.
The suspect was arrested within the premises of Tinubu Court, Lagos Island, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, and has since been arraigned.
