Manchester United have turned their attention to a loan move for Paris Saint-Germain and Uruguayan international Manuel Ugarte.
United has long been linked with a move for the Midfielder but his club PSG is holding out for a huge fee.
The Premier League side considers Ugarte deal to be below €50 million while his club PSG values him higher than €50 million.
One of the obstacles of the deal was for United to be able to offload either Scott McTominay or Victor Lindelof but Scottish international yesterday opted against leaving Old Trafford this summer.
Having been an academy graduate, United respects his decision and bows not to force the Midfielder out.
McTominay was one of the highest scorers for Manchester United last season despite playing a limited role in the team having been reduced to the bench by ever-rising England start Kobbie Mainoo who has cemented his place in the Erik Ten Hag side.
The 27-year old Scottish Midfielder scored seven league goals for United last season, coupled with two assists in 32 appearances as most of those were on substitute roles.
Ugarte, 23, agreed on personal terms with United since July and has been clear of his intention to join the club as his agent Jorge Mendes is currently working on getting a deal for the Midfielder.
The deal if agreed is said to be a season-long loan with an option to buy the following season.
