Manchester United recorded their first win of the 2024 preseason campaign, thanks to a 2-0 win over Scottish side Rangers.
Each goal from both halves secured the win for the Red Devils as last season signing Mason Mount recorded an assist for United as they triumphed.
The England international assisted last season’s FA Cup hero Amad Diallo to record United’s first goal in the first half.
Diallo was the icing on the cake for United when they defeated Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final last season before they went on to defeat Manchester City in the final at Wembley, thanks to goals from Alejandro Gernacho and young star Kobbie Mainoo.
Both Gernacho and Mainoo are enjoying their extended break after both taking part in the Copa America and European Championship respectively.
Gernacho won the Copa America with Argentina while Mainoo’s England side suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Spain in the final as they were exempted from the ongoing tour until they returned.
Youngsters Oyedele and Hugill combined in the 70th minute to double United’s advantage as the former assisted the latter to produce a goal made at Carrington.
United lost their first preseason game to Rosenberg but has just recorded their first win on the second attempt.
Ten Hag said after the game, “This has to be Amad Diallo’s year”.
“We have to see Amad in a different way, he is not inexperienced anymore. I trust him”.
“New signings already here? The leadership is doing great job, for sure”.
