Recent Reports indicate that Manchester United is on the verge of securing a deal for Bayern Munich’s right-back Noussair Mazraoui.
The pursuit of Mazraoui by West Ham United had intensified, but a breakdown in negotiations has paved the way for Erik ten Hag to reunite with the player he previously managed at Ajax.
According to Foot Mercato, United and Bayern have agreed on a transfer fee estimated at €25 million (£21.2 million) for Mazraoui, who has already consented to personal terms with the Red Devils and is eager to join the Premier League.
Reports suggests that the fee could fall between £15 million and £20 million, citing Ten Hag’s interest in Mazraoui as a means to enhance the performance of Antony, another former Ajax player.
Nevertheless, the transfer hinges on the future of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with reports suggesting that United must first offload their current right-back before finalizing Mazraoui’s signing. W
Wan-Bissaka is entering the last year of his contract and was previously linked to West Ham earlier in the summer. However, the Hammers shifted their focus to Mazraoui after concerns about Wan-Bissaka’s asking price, although they have reportedly rekindled their interest.
A fee of around £15 million, similar to what West Ham and Bayern agreed upon for Mazraoui, is anticipated to be sufficient to facilitate Wan-Bissaka’s departure.
Some sources even claim that an agreement between United and West Ham may already be in place, although Wan-Bissaka has yet to finalize personal terms with the London club. It is expected that these negotiations will not encounter significant hurdles.
For Manchester United, acquiring Mazraoui is crucial, especially considering his versatility as he can also play as a left-back. This position has been highlighted as a concern for Ten Hag’s squad due to injuries.
Luke Shaw is currently absent from pre-season training as he recovers from England’s Euro 2024 campaign, while Tyrell Malacia remains sidelined with a knee injury that kept him out for the entirety of last season.
