A shocking incident unfolded as Ibrahim Ogunrinde, a 46-year-old resident of Adu Town, Ajebo Road, Mile 6, Abeokuta, found himself behind bars for an alleged attempted murder. According to a press release from the Office of the State Commander of the So-Safe Corps, Commander Soji Ganzallo, through Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, Ogunrinde was apprehended at Ijaye Garage, Abeokuta, on Thursday, June 6, 2024.
The harrowing account detailed how Ogunrinde, a butcher and farmer, purportedly lured his victim, Kosu Daniel, under pretenses. Posing as a passenger, he requested a ride to Olubo Town on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. Yet, instead of reaching their destination, Ogunrinde allegedly attacked Daniel, stabbing him in the neck and arm before fleeing with the victim’s motorbike.
Ogunrinde’s motive, as confessed, stemmed from suspicions of an affair between Daniel and his wife two months prior. Believing he had succeeded in eliminating his perceived rival, Ogunrinde was unaware that Daniel survived the assault and was undergoing treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta.
The suspect and the recovered motorbike have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, SWAT, Magbon, for further investigation and potential prosecution. Commander Ganzallo commended the swift actions of the So-Safe Corps in apprehending the suspect, emphasizing its role as a deterrent to criminal activity within society.
