Reality TV star and chef Uriel Oputa, known for her appearance on Big Brother Naija, has spoken out against critics questioning her single status.
She firmly states that marriage is not an achievement and that she feels no pressure from family or the public regarding this matter.
Taking to her Instagram handle, @urielmusicstar, Uriel emphasised that she does not seek validation from social media for her marital status, highlighting that she does not need to prove her relationship status online.
She expressed her stance against posting about her partner or relationship on social media, considering it off-limits for herself.
Uriel addressed the notion that marriage is often seen as an accomplishment, stating, “Marriage isn’t for everyone. If you think marriage is an achievement, that’s on you.”
She also touched upon the issue of age-shaming and marriage-shaming, urging for a more positive energy to support the lives of young men and women.
Furthermore, Uriel addressed online trolls, emphasizing that she is “bully-proof” and has learned to handle criticism, drawing from her experiences growing up as the only black student in an all-white school.
Uriel rose to fame after her appearance in Big Brother Naija season 2 in 2017, and since then, she has diversified her career, becoming an entrepreneur and chef in addition to her continued presence as a social media influencer.
