Maureen Esisi has asserted that she and Nollywood actor, Blossom Chukwujekwu, remain “technically” married, despite their marriage dissolving in 2019.
She stresses that while their relationship has undergone significant strain, they have yet to formalize their divorce proceedings.
Esisi points out that the absence of her signature on any legal divorce documents serves as tangible evidence that their marital status remains unresolved. This underscores her stance that, from a legal standpoint, they are not officially divorced.
Going further into the complexities of their separation, Esisi revealed during a recent episode of ‘The House Chronicles’ podcast that, contrary to her initial hopes of reconciliation, her former in-laws played a conflicting role in their marital turmoil.
Despite initially advising against their seperation, she alleges that they later actively supported their separation, leaving her feeling disillusioned and unsupported during a vulnerable period of her life.
She said, “I would call his mum, she would give me reasons why we cannot divorce. She would say, It (divorce) is not of the Lord. Don’t worry, he would get better.’ And then, magically, he said he was done. And the same you guys [in-laws] that were telling me every year to stay, how come your son comes up to you that he’s done and surprisingly, you throw God out of the way?
“My separation happened way before it became public. I’m not divorced by books. Technically, we are still married. When you say you’re divorced, it means you’ve signed papers, right?”.
Blossom Chukwujekwu entered into matrimony with Pastor Ehinome at Christ Embassy in June 2022, marking three years since his marriage with Maureen Esisi came to an end.
