Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has officially launched a newly installed electronic gate (E-gate) at the departure terminal of Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos.

The announcement regarding the E-gate installation was made in a statement by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on Friday, noting the presence of managing director Olubunmi Kuku during the inauguration.

FAAN stated that the E-gate aims to enhance passenger comfort and reflects the minister’s dedication to advancing Nigeria’s aviation sector and improving the overall travel experience.

“This initiative is part of a collaborative effort through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with the UBAGroup, designed to elevate passenger experience and align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s renewed hope agenda,” FAAN remarked.

In addition to the E-gate, the authority revealed the launch of four new compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered buses intended for passenger transport at the Lagos airport.

FAAN highlighted that these buses, which are equipped to accommodate individuals with special needs, signify Nigeria’s commitment to decreasing carbon emissions and fulfilling international climate objectives.
