The 2024 ongoing West African Examination Council (WAEC) has recorded more wins than losses, according to the Examination board member.
Having witnessed the Examination going to its conclusion in a few days time, the head of National Office (HNO) Dr. Amos Dangut said about 1.8 million candidates are sitting for the examination.
Speaking during the Examination monitoring journey at the Government Secondary School, Garki, in Abuja on Thursday, Dr Amos said that the 2024 examination had slightly more female students than male with a ratio of 51:49.
Also speaking was the Minister of Education, Mr Tahir Mamman who expressed his satisfaction over the conduct of this year’s Examination.
The Minister commended the Examination progress citing no reported incidence during the Examination.
“We are here to check the ongoing WAEC Examination and the exams are going on very smoothly, we are happy with the nationwide exams and so far we haven’t had any incident in the exam”. Mamman said.
speaking about examination centers, Mr Amos said that the examination is going on in over 20,000 accredited centres across the country.
“This year’s Examination has been very successful as there has been no report of any leakage whatsoever, so it’s going on smoothly.”
“As the Minister has attested to it when moving round, you will see that there was calmness as the students were well comported and writing very well”.
The examination which began on April 30 is expected to end on June 24 in all the four countries currently writing it including Nigeria, The Gambia, Sierra Leone and Liberia.
