A tragic incident occurred in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Wednesday morning, resulting in the death of a commercial motorcyclist, Mr. Edward Bamidele. The accident happened on the bustling Alesinloye Market road, near the Iyaganku Police Area Command.

According to eyewitnesses at the scene, the accident took place around 7:30 am. Mr. Bamidele, while attempting to overtake a water-laden tanker, lost control of his motorcycle. He fell and was subsequently crushed by the tanker, leading to his immediate death.

Remarkably, his passenger managed to escape unhurt by jumping off the motorcycle just in time.

The response from officials was swift. Personnel from the Nigerian Police, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA), and other relevant agencies quickly arrived to restore order and manage the ensuing traffic.

As of the time of this report, Mr. Bamidele’s body has been transported to the Adeoyo State Hospital mortuary.

Meanwhile, the driver of the tanker, which had no visible registration, fled the scene before law enforcement could apprehend him.
