Telecoms giant MTN has closed its offices nationwide following the vandalism of its properties on Monday.
The incident was sparked by the network provider’s decision to bar the lines of some subscribers on Sunday due to a mismatch between their National Identification Number (NIN) and SIM registration.
In response, some aggrieved customers, whose lines were disconnected for not complying with the NIN-SIM linkage policy, vandalized several MTN offices.
Hours after the attacks, MTN announced the closure of its offices nationwide starting Tuesday.”Dear customer, please be informed that our shops nationwide will be closed today, 30th July 2024,” the company stated on its customer support X handle.
MTN has directed its customers to use its “digital channels” for support in the meantime.
