Marlon Wayans recently shared a personal revelation about his life choices, explaining that his late mother, Elvira Wayans, played a significant role in his decision to remain unmarried.

The 51-year-old actor disclosed that he made a commitment to prioritize his relationship with his mother, making her the most important woman in his life until her passing in 2020 at the age of 81. In an interview with The New York Times, Marlon expressed that he opted not to marry because he wanted to ensure his mother never felt overshadowed or secondary to any other woman.

Reflecting on his mother’s passing, Marlon emotionally revealed, “My mother’s death broke me. It shattered me into a million pieces, because that was my girl.” He further emphasized, “I never got married because I never wanted my mother to be jealous of a woman. I never wanted my mother to feel second to any woman.”

Marlon Wayans, known for his roles in “In Living Color” and “The Wayans Bros.,” is the youngest of his siblings. He shares two sons, Kai and Shawn, with his former longtime partner Angelica Zackery and confirmed the birth of his now 1-year-old daughter earlier this year.

Marlon’s parents, Elvira and Howell, had a large family of 10 children, many of whom pursued careers in entertainment. Marlon paid tribute to his mother on what would have been her 82nd birthday in 2020, expressing, “You will always be my first love happy bday woman. Baby boy misses you.”
