The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has praised Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of NNPCL, for his outstanding leadership and steadfast commitment to advancing Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

In a statement released on Sunday, NANS President, Comrade Lucky Emonefe, commended Kyari for his visionary leadership, which is reflected in the recent release of NNPCL’s 2023 Audited Financial Statement. The statement highlighted a remarkable 322% increase in assets, bringing the total to N246.8 trillion, a testament to Kyari’s strategic foresight.

Emonefe noted that under Kyari’s leadership, NNPC Ltd has demonstrated a strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and operational resilience, resulting in impressive financial outcomes, including a pre-tax profit of N5.98 trillion and a net profit of N3.29 trillion.

While celebrating these achievements, Emonefe urged Nigerians to exercise patience and understanding with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration as it navigates the complexities of economic recovery and growth.

He acknowledged the challenges posed by the recent removal of the fuel subsidy but emphasized that it was a necessary step for economic sustainability and growth.

“The removal of the petrol subsidy, though initially difficult, is expected to redirect resources into critical sectors, foster economic diversification, and create new opportunities for all Nigerians,” Emonefe stated.

He further assured Nigerians that the long-term benefits of these measures will outweigh the temporary hardships. Emonefe expressed confidence in the Renewed Hope Agenda led by President Tinubu, which aims to revitalize the economy, create jobs, and improve living standards.

NANS commended Mele Kyari and the board and management of NNPC Ltd for their exceptional leadership, which has fostered hope and confidence in Nigeria’s economic future.

Emonefe expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their patience and perseverance, reaffirming the association’s commitment to working together for a prosperous Nigeria.
