Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command arrested Hauwa Sani, a female suspect, on Friday for concealing 124 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition in a gallon of palm oil. She was accompanied by a two-year-old child at the time of her arrest.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this in a statement posted on X.com on Saturday.

According to the statement, the suspect was apprehended with a cash sum of ₦78,500 and a mobile phone while attempting to transport the ammunition to Katsina State, where she is reportedly from.

The statement reads: “On 23/8/2024 at about 1710hrs, based on credible information, Police operatives attached to Keffi Division intercepted and arrested Hauwa Sani, a female, along with a 2-year-old child from Doro village, Katsina State.”

The police recovered “one hundred and twenty-four (124) rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition concealed in a gallon of palm oil, one Tecno mobile phone, and a cash sum of Seventy-eight thousand and five hundred Naira (#78,500) from the suspect as an exhibit.”

The statement further noted, “Preliminary findings revealed that the suspect received a supply of the ammunition at Rafin Sanyi village in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State and concealed the items in a gallon of palm oil en route to Katsina State before she was apprehended.”

Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Shehu Nadada, has ordered the transfer of the suspect and the seized items to the Force Intelligence Department at the Force Headquarters in Abuja for further investigation.
