The Nasarawa State Police Command apprehended four individuals involved in a daring burglary at an electronics store in the Rimi Uku area of Lafia, the capital city of Nasarawa State. This incident, which had stirred considerable concern among residents, was resolved due to the diligent efforts of the local police force.

The spokesperson for the Nasarawa State Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ramhan Nansel, shared details of the arrest in an official statement released on Sunday, June 2, 2024. According to DSP Nansel, the swift action taken by the police followed a formal complaint lodged at the ‘A’ Division police station in Lafia. This complaint set the wheels in motion for a prompt and effective investigation.

Following the complaint, police operatives swiftly swung into action, identifying and apprehending the suspects. The individuals taken into custody were Sa’ad Kashina, aged 24; Bawa Saidu, aged 30; Sagir Mohammed, aged 28; and Isiaka Mohammed, aged 20. All suspects are residents of the Doma and Lafia areas. Their arrest marked a significant step towards restoring a sense of security in the community.

The police successfully recovered several stolen items during the operation. Among the recovered items were four Kapital solar batteries and two 32-inch LG television sets, which had been taken from the electronics store. These recoveries provided crucial evidence linking the suspects to the crime and underscored the thoroughness of the police investigation.

Further interrogation of the suspects revealed additional details about their activities. The suspects admitted to selling four laptops, also stolen from the electronics store, in Makurdi, Benue State. They disclosed that the laptops were sold for a sum of N30,000. This confession not only provided further incriminating evidence but also illustrated the broader network of criminal activities the suspects were involved in.

Reacting to the successful arrest, the Commissioner of Police for Nasarawa State, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, expressed his commendation for the police officers’ prompt response and effective action. CP Nadada emphasized the importance of thorough investigations and swift justice. He directed the Divisional Police officers to delve deeper into the case to uncover any further details and ensure that the suspects are brought to justice without unnecessary delay.

CP Nadada’s directive underlines the police force’s commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring that those who engage in criminal activities are held accountable. His instructions to the Divisional Police officers to carry out extensive investigations highlight the importance placed on comprehensive and meticulous policing practices.

The prompt reporting of the burglary by the community members enabled the police to act swiftly and effectively.
