Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, took aim at ex-presidential media aide Reno Omokri on Monday, as tensions rose between Omokri and supporters of President Bola Tinubu.

The conflict reportedly ignited when El-Rufai shared and endorsed an article by prominent columnist Farooq Kperogi, which accused President Tinubu of favoring his ethnic group in appointments at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

In the piece titled “Tinubu’s Buharisation of the NNPC,” Kperogi criticized the president’s perceived “Yorubacentric takeover” of the NNPC, comparing it to the favoritism shown to Northerners during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure.

In response to the article, El-Rufai tweeted: “DECEMBER MESSAGE: Two wrongs do not make a right. Sensible inclusion always trumps arrogant exclusion.”

However, his comments drew considerable backlash from both the presidency and Tinubu’s supporters.
