The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has reported eight new cases of Mpox across Gombe, Plateau, and Akwa Ibom states.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 67 in 23 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), out of 1,031 suspected cases from 35 states and the FCT.
The update was shared by NCDC Director General Jide Idris during a press briefing in Abuja.
Regarding cholera, the NCDC has identified 141 suspected cases and one death, with a fatality rate of 0.7 percent. The affected states include Katsina, Lagos, Kano, Jigawa, and Adamawa. To date, there have been 216 deaths from 7,663 suspected cases nationwide.
Despite a reported decline in cholera cases, Director General Idris warned that more cases are expected in the coming weeks due to recent flooding in several parts of the country.
