Agbakoba John Mmadu and Agbakoba Ijeoma Chinwe, a Nigerian couple allegedly leading a high-profile cocaine syndicate based in Lagos, have been apprehended by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Alongside them, their associate Okoye Ifeoma Maryjane was also arrested during a raid that yielded significant quantities of the class A drug intended for both local distribution and export.

Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, disclosed in a statement on Sunday that a special operations unit conducted the raid on the notorious drug syndicate after months of intelligence gathering and surveillance.

“The 54-year-old Agbakoba John Mmadu was apprehended at Ago Palace Way, Okota, while his wife, 39-year-old Agbakoba Ijeoma Chinwe, and their associate Okoye Ifeoma Maryjane, aged 31 and also serving as their stash keeper, were arrested at Plot 2205 Eugene Ndubisi Close, Lilly Estate, Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos, all on Wednesday, 3rd July 2024.

“The operation yielded seven parcels of cocaine weighing a total of 7.652 kilograms recovered from Mmadu at Ago Palace Way.

Additionally, from Ijeoma and Ifeoma at Lilly Estate, authorities seized not less than one hundred and twenty-two compressed pellets of the drug, totaling 2.42 kilograms.

This brings the total seizure to 10.1 kilograms, valued at over N2.1 billion in street value,” Babafemi stated.
