Italian legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has opined that his former teammate and Brazil superstar Neymar Jr deserves to have been crowned with the Ballon D’Or for at least of five times.
Recalled that in the 2018/2019 football season, Buffon signed a one-year deal with French transfer market king, Paris Saint-Germain.
In one of the interviews as quoted by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Buffon said Neymar has the potential to be the world’s best five times.
“I played against three generations: Zidane, Ronaldo, Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Iniesta… but if you ask me to pick one player, on and off the pitch, I say Neymar”.
Following his big money move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain, Neymar was able to be involved in 19 goals and 13 assists in just 20 league games (his most prolific season for Paris Saint-Germain).
Neymar, while playing with Buffon was able to score 15 goals in 17 appearances with seven assists, giving the Italian goalkeeper the belief that he should have won the Ballon D’Or.
Neyman is now in the books of Saudi Pro league side Al-Hillal where has scored just one goal since joining the club.
