The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has reportedly tabled a huge offer for French women National team coach, Harvey Renard per HanifBerkane.
As reported, the bid for Renard to become head coach of the Nigeria male National team is €2 million.
A similar source has also revealed that Egypt has also booked a €1.9 million deal for Renard to become the head coach of the black Stars.
The 55-year old is currently the head coach of the French women National team as they prepare to take part in the summer Olympics which they are hosting.
Renard is vested with the knowledge of African football having been coach of the Chipolopolo of Zambia and the Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire.
He led Zambia to win the African nations cup in 2012 and repeated the same feat with the Ivorian national team in 2015.
Should Renard accept the Super Eagles Job, he will be tasked with the responsibilities of securing a world cup ticket to Nigeria despite their poor start as well as taking the team to Morocco for the AFCON 2025.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are currently sitting 5th in their group with just three points from four games with their latest two games ending in disappointing results.
Nigeria drew 1-1 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa and lost in Côte d’Ivoire 2-1 to Benin Republic despite scoring first against Benin.
Now trying to avoid losing out on another world cup after missing the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Nigeria understands the importance of hiring a more tactical coach after finidi George’s resignation.”It’s a difficult job,” Renard said, as per GFNF.
“If I had to be brief, I have in the back of my mind the 2026 World Cup in men’s football; I hope that it will be my third World Cup at the head of a men’s team. These are my personal motivations.” the Frenchman added.
