The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has taken action against Jaff Foods Limited, a rice processing facility in Niger state, for non-compliance with manufacturing practices. The Director of the North Central Zone of NAFDAC, Pharmacist Shaba Mohammed, ordered the sealing of the facility during a routine inspection, citing unhygienic conditions and failure to adhere to good manufacturing practices.
Although the facility was registered with NAFDAC, it was found to have an unhygienic production environment and lacked compliance with good manufacturing practices. Shaba Mohammed stated that the facility has been sealed and issued compliance directives to meet the required regulations for production and certification.
Additionally, NAFDAC placed dispenser water at Golden Age Water on hold due to lack of batching coding and date marking. The agency also confiscated some unregistered herbal teas from Jonapal Supermarket in Minna.
To improve regulatory processes, NAFDAC organized a one-day workshop for Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to educate clients and stakeholders about the Automated Product Administration and Monitoring System (NAPAMS). NAPAMS is an e-registration and data capture system that provides an online platform for product registration with NAFDAC. MSMEs were encouraged to utilize NAPAMS to enhance their interaction with the agency.
