The Commandant of the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre in Kaduna, Maj. Gen. Ademola Adedoja, announced the deployment of troops as part of Nigeria’s efforts to promote peace in the country.

Maj. Gen. Adedoja made this announcement during the graduation ceremony of the troops from Pre-deployment Training at the Nigerian Army Peace Keeping Centre (NAPKC) in Jaji, Kaduna State. He added that the officers had undergone intense training in accordance with the standard UN core pre-deployment training modules.

The six-week training, which began on May 4, was designed to equip the designated unit with the necessary skills and knowledge for effective deployment, according to him.

As part of their training, the troops covered various critical topics, including sexual exploitation and abuse, conflict-related sexual violence, conduct and discipline, and the protection of civilians. He expressed confidence that the troops were well-prepared for their mission.

He advised the troops to avoid incidents such as trafficking illicit substances and sexual exploitation and abuse, which could tarnish the image of the country and the Nigerian Armed Forces.

He emphasized that the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has zero tolerance for such acts and noted that the Nigerian government would not tolerate any violations of these rules and regulations.
