The Nigeria Police Force has issued a wanted notice for Andrew Wynne, also known by the aliases Andrew Povich and Drew Povey, a British citizen accused of conspiring to undermine President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
A thorough investigation has been initiated to examine the involvement of foreign mercenaries and other disruptive elements aiming to destabilize Nigeria’s democratically elected government.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force’s spokesperson, revealed that Wynne had secured a location at Labour House in Abuja for an establishment called ‘Iva Valley Bookshop’ and had set up the ‘STARS of Nations Schools’ as a facade for his operations.
“Evidence gathered, including documentation and testimonies, indicates that Andrew Wynne issued orders and monitored the planning of protests scheduled for August,” Adejobi stated during a press conference at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Furthermore, the police reported the arrest of nine individuals believed to have received significant financial support from foreign entities.
Adejobi elaborated, “Initial investigations suggest that these individuals coordinated and financed violent demonstrations, spread misinformation, and engaged in various illegal activities to incite chaos and legitimize their coup attempt against the government.”
