The Nigeria U-17 Players, the Golden Eaglets on Thursday booked a spot in the semi finals of the West African Football Union (WAFU) zone B championship.
The five times world champions thrashed their Togolese counterparts 3-0 to secure a place in the last phase of the qualifiers as the last two teams will qualify to play in the main tournament of the African U-17 Nations cup later this year.
Following a 1-0 win over Niger with a draw against Burkina Faso in their opening game, Nigeria kept on progressing as the tournament progressed.
The Manu Garba led Golden Eaglet are yet to concede a goal in the tournament after keeping three outstanding clean sheets but recorded two wins from a possible three with an unbeaten record.
Striker Abdulamuiz Adeleke opened the scores, firing home a left footed drive to break the deadlock.
Moments later, Raph Adams doubled the lead with a diving header meeting captain Cletus’ cross to end the break with a 2-gpal caution.
Forward Adeleke completed his brace after after netting Nigeria’s 3rd of the afternoon before missing a spot kick that would have handed him a hat-trick.
The victory means Nigeria finishes the group as Tops with seven points and qualified to the semifinals of the tournament as they will be engage Cote d’Ivoire for a place in the final.
