The Confederation of African Football made an announcement on Tuesday, concerning the nigeria u17 team, confirming that all 20 players selected for the WAFU B U17 Championship in Accra, Ghana have successfully passed all their tests and met all requirements.
This declaration of eligibility is a testament to the thorough testing conducted by the Nigeria Football Federation prior to the team’s departure. It sets a positive tone for Nigeria, as they aim to defend the title they won last year in Ghana.
Head Coach Manu Garba expressed his delight with the results, stating, “We are happy about the results. Having the whole squad available for the tournament gives us peace of mind.
The players have been responding well to training, and the weather conditions here in Ghana are similar to what we experienced in Abuja before our departure. Our primary objective is to secure one of the two tickets to the Africa U17 Cup of Nations. We will take each match step by step, starting with our opening game against Burkina Faso on Thursday.”
The Eaglets will commence their title defense against Burkina Faso at the University Stadium on Thursday, May 16th, with kickoff scheduled for 3 pm Ghana time (4 pm Nigeria time).
They will then face Niger Republic on Sunday, May 19th (6 pm Ghana, 7 pm Nigeria), and Togo on Wednesday, May 22nd (4 pm Ghana, 5 pm Nigeria).
The match against Niger Republic will also be held at the University Stadium, while the clash with Togo will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium.
