Nigeria, known for its vast agricultural resources, has been urged by Israeli experts to embrace advanced technology to unlock its full potential in the agricultural sector. The collaboration between Nigeria and Israel aims to enhance agricultural practices through the adoption of innovative solutions, which would not only boost food production but also contribute to the country’s economic growth.
During the event, the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman, emphasized the willingness of Israel to partner with Nigeria in various sectors of mutual benefit. The ambassador highlighted the need to address poverty and insecurity through joint efforts, expressing hope that the forum would bolster trade between the two nations.
Agatha Afoekelu, the Nigerian Ambassador in Tel-Aviv, encouraged Nigerian entrepreneurs to seize the opportunity presented by the friendly business relations with Israel to expand their export trade. Israel, with its advanced technology systems, can provide valuable collaboration in areas such as agricultural production and fisheries.
The national Coordinator of the Nigeria-Israel Business Forum, Mrs. Florence Osuji, stated that the primary objective of the event was to raise awareness about the existing opportunities in the business relations between the two countries.
She acknowledged the historically one-sided trade relationship and emphasized the need for Nigeria to take advantage of this partnership to promote its non-oil exports to Israel. Mrs. Osuji highlighted the potential for exporting rice to Israel, as it is a staple food for pilgrims visiting the country throughout the year.
