A Nigerian man recently shared a surprising experience on X about his arrest and detention at a Swiss airport due to a presentation laser pointer in his possession. Etsetowghan Andrew recounted that he was in Switzerland for work and was on his way back home when security requested to search his backpack. During the search, they discovered a presentation laser pointer, which he used for delivering slides during presentations with MS PowerPoint.
Andrew explained that the Swiss authorities informed him that the laser pointer was prohibited in the country.
Consequently, he was detained and placed in a cell for two hours. During this time, he was told that he could not be released until a Swiss resident with a verifiable address came forward to vouch for him. After securing such a guarantor, he was eventually released.
