A 17-year-old student named Emmanuela Ilok has received full scholarships to pursue Software Engineering at renowned universities like Stanford, MIT, Yale, UPenn, Princeton, and Columbia.

Alex Onyia, an education advocate and the CEO of Educare, highlighted Ilok’s achievements in a post on his X page last Sunday.

In Onyia’s post, he wrote “This is Emmanuela Ilok, the brilliant 17-year-old who received full scholarships to study Software Engineering at Stanford, MIT, Yale, UPenn, Princeton, and Columbia University”.

According to him, Emmanuela Ilok’s academic excellence has gained national recognition, as she was honored as the best in Nigeria in the International General Certificate of Secondary Education by the British Council.

Onyia also mentioned that Ilok created software that employs Machine Learning to identify breast cancer in women, achieving an impressive 91% accuracy in detection.

Onyia further stressed the importance of recognizing and supporting such exceptional talents stating “We have many hidden Emmanuelas in Nigeria, and we need to discover and support them. It’s time for Nigeria to shine.

“I spent over an hour listening to her today, and I can tell you that we have a superstar in her”.

In a previous incident, a young math genius, Ugwoezuonu Ogechi Zara, also received a N21 million scholarship for achieving a perfect 100% score in the primary category of the National Mathematics Competition hosted by the Mathematics Association of Nigeria.
