A night guard, tasked with securing a construction site in Ezimezi Amawbia, was shocked to catch his close friend in the act of stealing building materials early this morning.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 4:30 AM, when the guard, whose identity remains undisclosed, noticed suspicious movements at the site he was monitoring. Upon closer inspection, he discovered his friend, a man from the same community, attempting to make away with valuable materials from the construction site.
Eyewitnesses claim that the confrontation between the two was tense, as the guard initially hesitated to take action due to their friendship. However, realizing the seriousness of the theft, he quickly alerted the site supervisor and other security personnel. The suspect was subsequently apprehended and handed over to the local authorities.
Residents of Ezimezi Amawbia have expressed shock over the incident, particularly because of the close relationship between the night guard and the alleged thief. Many are commending the guard for upholding his duty despite the personal conflict.
The suspect is currently in police custody at the Awka South Police Division, awaiting further investigation and possible prosecution.
