This situation arises amid ongoing disputes about the company’s actions. Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, declared that the company’s workers are not responsible for importing low-quality petroleum products into Nigeria.

Kyari made this statement on Wednesday in Abuja while speaking to an Ad-hoc Committee led by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele. The committee was investigating accusations of economic sabotage in the petroleum sector.

As the GCEO, Kyari explained that he has been unfairly criticized by the media. He believes that some people are trying to make it seem like NNPCL is harming Nigeria’s economy.

He emphasized that the company is honest and would never deceive the nation. “We are not criminals, and we are not thieves. We will maintain our honor to serve this country,” he asserted.

Kyari also mentioned that the oil and gas industry is suffering significantly. He hinted at having knowledge of certain issues that he could not discuss publicly until the right time.

He requested that future committee meetings be broadcast live so that all Nigerians can watch and stay informed.
