The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has strongly denied allegations of instability and disunity within its organization, branding these claims as “misleading narratives” spread by naysayers.
Following a gathering of South-South State Chairmen in Port Harcourt, the party reiterated that there is no crisis within its ranks.
In a statement jointly issued by the South-South NNPP chairmen, the party asserted that individuals such as Boniface Aniebonam, Agbo Major, and Oginni Olaposi are not recognized as members, having been suspended and expelled due to various infractions.
The statement read, “We unequivocally declare that there is no crisis within the party, and the individuals mentioned—Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, Dr. Agbo Gilbert Major, Mr. Oginni Olaposi, and their affiliates—are not recognized members of the NNPP.”
“These individuals have been officially suspended and expelled from the party for various offenses and therefore have no right to claim membership or represent themselves as NNPP officials.”
The chairmen stressed that the party’s organizational structure remains strong under the leadership of Dr. Ajuji Ahmed as National Chairman, Prince Onu Nwaeze as Deputy National Chairman, Mr. Dipo Olayoku as National Secretary, Barr. Ladipo Johnson as National Publicity Secretary, alongside other members of the National Working Committee (NWC).
The South-South NNPP chairmen expressed appreciation to the 36 state chairmen and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) leadership for their steadfast commitment to the party.
They also reaffirmed their loyalty to NNPP National Leader Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly Jibail Falgore, and NNPP members of both the Kano State House of Assembly and the National Assembly.
The statement emphasized, “We strongly disapprove of the persistent erroneous references to Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, Dr. Agbo Major, and their associates in this matter.”
“We have clearly articulated our national officers earlier in this press briefing, and we call on our media partners to be vigilant and accurate in their reporting. It is crucial for the integrity of our party that the proper titles of our officers are upheld.”
The chairmen further clarified the party’s official colors and symbols, which they stated are red and white, featuring an academic cap on a book with the inscription “NNPP” prominently displayed.
Addressing concerns regarding the Kwankwasiyya Movement, the chairmen described it as an essential component of the NNPP, highlighting its dedication and allegiance to the party’s principles.
“The Kwankwasiyya Movement is a vital part of our party’s structure. Their commitment and loyalty to the NNPP’s principles and activities are invaluable.”
“Claims suggesting that the Kwankwasiyya Movement threatens the party or seeks to take it over are completely unfounded and reflect a narrative propagated by those opposed to our party.”
The South-South chairmen pledged their loyalty to the NNPP and Senator Kwankwaso, firmly rejecting the activities of Aniebonam, Major, and their “expelled followers.”
They urged members to remain committed and focused, dismissing distractions from former members as “malicious tactics” employed by agents aiming to destabilize the party, similar to what has been observed in opposition parties across the country.
