The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has officially announced that candidates from the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) have emerged victorious in the local government elections held across all 44 Local Government Areas and 484 wards.
During a press briefing in Kano on Saturday, KANSIEC Chairman Prof. Sani Malumfashi shared the election results, stating, “According to the tallies provided by the Electoral and Returning Officers at various collation centers, the NNPP has won the chairmanship in all 44 local governments, alongside all 484 councillorship positions.”
Malumfashi further explained, “Each of the 44 Returning Officers and Ward Returning Officers has declared and submitted their results in compliance with electoral laws. This confirms that NNPP has secured all chairmanship and councillorship roles throughout the state.”
The chairman noted that the electoral process was notably peaceful and successful, thanking key stakeholders—including security agencies, media outlets, political party leaders, civil society organizations, and religious and community figures—for their contributions.
He remarked, “The smooth execution of this electoral process is a clear indicator of its credibility, fairness, and acceptance by the public.”
Additionally, Malumfashi praised the electorate for their diligence in preventing underage voting, emphasizing the integrity of the electoral exercise.
