In anticipation of potential election malpractice ahead of the local government elections in Jigawa State, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has resorted to spiritual practices.
A party insider revealed that members have initiated special prayer gatherings in various communities. These gatherings involve reciting passages from the Holy Qur’an, seeking divine intervention to guarantee a transparent, fair, and credible electoral process.
The NNPP supporters have specifically prayed for calamity and divine retribution to strike anyone who attempts to tamper with the election results.
“We firmly believe that God’s power surpasses any schemes to rig the election. We trust that He will ensure justice prevails,” stated a party member.
Recently, the Jigawa State High Court in Dutse dismissed a petition from the NNPP and the Action Democratic Party (ADP) that challenged the Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission (JISIEC) regarding its election procedures and the elevated cost of nomination forms.
According to reports, the main opposition parties in the state, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and NNPP, have nominated candidates in several local government areas for the upcoming council elections scheduled for October 5, 2024.
