The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has explained the reasons behind the need for changes in its logo. On Friday, DAILY POST reported that the party, which saw the Governor of Kano State elected in 2023, has revised its constitution, facilitating changes to its slogan, logo, and flag.
During the official presentation of the new logo, flag, and slogan in Abuja, NNPP’s national chairman, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, addressed the media. He presented the new logo, which will be featured on ballot papers in every Nigerian election starting in November this year, following approval from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
However, due to logistical issues, INEC will continue using the old logo for the September 21, 2024, off-season governorship election in Edo State and the upcoming re-run election in Kano State. “However, beginning with the November 16, 2024, off-season governorship election in Ondo State, this new logo will be on the ballot papers,” the party stated.
Explaining the necessity for the logo changes, Dr. Ahmed said: “Our experience in the last general elections, where the old logo with its many colors posed a significant challenge in the production of the ballot papers, highlighted the urgent need for a simpler logo. In fact, in some cases, our voters were confused by the way the old logo appeared on the ballot papers across the country.

“As a party committed to progress, we did not blame anyone or pursue tribunal challenges over the old logo’s presentation on the ballot papers nationwide. Instead, we embarked on a mission of dialogue and wide consultations both within and outside the party, leading us to this point.
“Let me also use this opportunity to call on all State Independent Electoral Commissions (SIECs) across the country to take note of this new development. All SIECs should feature this new logo on ballot papers for local government elections in all states of the Federation.”
