Alhaji Bukola Mutiu, Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) for Oyo, Osun States, and surrounding areas, has clarified that there has been no official directive from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) to set the price of petrol at ₦897 per litre.
This statement comes in response to observations in Abuja, where some NNPCL retail fuel stations have already adjusted their pump prices to reflect the ₦897 per litre rate.
In a phone conversation Online, Mutiu emphasized that independent petroleum marketers have not yet received any official communication from NNPCL regarding the new pricing.
“As of now, we have not received any official memo instructing independent petroleum marketers to sell petrol at ₦897 per litre, even though some NNPCL retail stations have implemented this price change,” he stated.
“We are currently awaiting further instructions from NNPCL on how to proceed with the new pump price of petrol. It is also important to note that private depots have ceased selling petrol to us for some time now,” Mutiu added
