Veteran Nollywood Actress Binta Ayo Mogaji Reveals Journey to Motherhood at 40

Nollywood veteran Binta Ayo Mogaji, popularly known as Mama Insurance, has shared her journey to motherhood, revealing that she had her first child at the age of 40. Speaking on the ‘Talk To B’ podcast, Mogaji disclosed that she had to undergo surgery to remove one of her fallopian tubes due to an ectopic pregnancy.

Despite this medical setback, the actress proudly shared that she was able to conceive and give birth to her child naturally, even with just one fallopian tube. She recounted that she had decided to adopt a child if she had not given birth by the time she turned 40.

“I had my son just a few weeks after my 40th birthday,” Mogaji said. “At that time, I wasn’t interested in getting married, and neither was the father of my child.”

Describing her harrowing experience with the ectopic pregnancy, Mogaji said, “Unfortunately enough, the pregnancy was ectopic. They took me to seven different hospitals. The doctor said he wasn’t sure I could survive until the next day. The operation took them, like, seven to nine hours. Some of my colleagues who visited me at the hospital were crying.

“[My partner], Jibola came shortly before I was 40 because I had my baby six weeks after I became 40 years old. But he didn’t want to get married as well.”
