The North Central Forum of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a stern warning to Benue State’s Governor, Hyacinth Alia, regarding his actions that they claim are undermining both the party and the state.

They expressed concern over his apparent disregard for his political benefactor and other influential leaders.

During a press conference held in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, the forum’s Chairman, Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, expressed that the governor’s failure to acknowledge peace initiatives proposed by President Bola Tinubu aimed at resolving internal conflicts within the Benue APC is particularly troubling.

Zazzaga emphasized that this behavior reflects a profound disrespect towards the President, who is also the APC’s national leader and the figure under whose platform Governor Alia secured his election in 2023.

The Chairman also noted that Governor Alia has rebuffed multiple efforts from party stakeholders, including federal lawmakers and the state’s paramount ruler, to engage with him constructively.

He remarked that the governor’s early actions of disrespecting his political benefactor, George Akume, who serves as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, are clear signs of ingratitude, akin to biting the hand that feeds him.

Zazzaga affirmed that the North Central APC will not passively watch as the governor continues to disrupt the party’s unity in the region. He warned that if Alia does not amend his ways, the forum is prepared to take various actions against him.

“Governor Alia must remember that his victory in the gubernatorial election was not solely his achievement, but rather a collective effort supported by many. It is imperative that he shows respect to APC leaders, the President, the SGF, and other key stakeholders within the party,” he concluded.
