The Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, nabbed five suspects in Kano State for purported vandalism and theft.
The Commandant of the Corps in Kano State, Mohammad Lawal-Falala, disclosed this in a statement released on Tuesday in Kano.
He mentioned that the suspects were captured by the anti-vandalism unit of the corps during late-night patrols.
Two individuals, Adnan Umar (26) and Musa Shuayb (24), were apprehended while vandalizing armored cables of streetlights along IBB Way, near Fagge/Kofar Wambai new market. They were reportedly in the process of attempting to steal three rolls of copper wire.
Also, in a separate occurrence, three suspected motorcycle thieves, one of whom was allegedly in possession of the stolen motorcycle, were detained by the police.
The two individual suspects, Saminu Magaji (19) and Haruna Idris (22), along with Ahmed Abubakar (38) who is the receiver, were apprehended.
The Commandant mentioned that two other suspects are currently evading capture. He accused the suspects, who come from Gwammaja, Dala LGA, Kano State, of specializing in burglarizing homes, stealing motorcycles, and personal items.
He mentioned that the suspects are currently under investigation and will be brought to court once the investigation has been concluded.
