Dr. Olusola Odumosu, Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has assured that no critical national assets and infrastructure (CNAI) have been vandalized during the ongoing protests in Abuja.
Speaking after inspecting key infrastructure on Friday, Odumosu reported that he visited several locations, including railway stations at Wupa, Kukwaba 1 and 2, Bassanjiwa, Gwagwa, and Idu, as well as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Headquarters, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company in Wuse, FCT Water Board in Asokoro, and the Abuja Central Mosque.
He praised the protesters for respecting the railway stations and other critical infrastructures during the first day of protests, though noted that the second day was still underway.
“We discovered that none of the railway corridors were tampered with by miscreants during the day-1 protest but day-2 is still ongoing,” Odumosu said. “We have a collective duty to protect CNAI as these amenities were provided with our common wealth.”

While affirming the right to peaceful protest, Odumosu warned against any attempts to damage government properties and installations. He expressed concern over the attacks on motorists in Lugbe and the burning of private vehicles in Nyanya on Thursday.
During his visit to the Idu railway station, Engr. Joseph Akinteye, Director of Transport for the FCT Administration (FCTA), commended the NSCDC personnel for their diligence. “We have not had any case of vandalism in a long while, this shows the commitment of your men in securing critical infrastructure in the FCT,” Akinteye stated.
